Dogstar, the rock band featuring bassist Keanu Reeves, guitarist and vocalist Bret Domrose, and drummer Rob Mailhouse, has announced their 2024 U.S. ‘Summer Vacation Tour’. Currently touring Europe, the band will bring their high-energy performances to American fans starting in August.
In a statement, the band expressed their excitement about continuing their tour. “We are having the best time out here on the road interacting with fans at these shows. We wanted to keep it going! For this next U.S. run starting in August, we will be planning to try out some new songs as well. Hope to see you out there!” they said.
Rob Mailhouse also shared his enthusiasm on Instagram, commenting on Dogstar’s announcement post, “We can’t wait to see everyone! Thank you all for all the love and support. We can feel it every time we take the stage.”
After a 23-year hiatus, Dogstar made a triumphant return last October with their album “Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees.” Keanu Reeves hinted that this album was just the beginning. Speaking to Variety Music, the ‘John Wick’ star said, “We want to make another record. We want to get in the studio, we want to tour, we want to play, we want to travel, we want to have great shows and have people have a really good time.”
Bret Domrose added that their new music reflects a lighter tone compared to their previous work. “I think this is a little lighter maybe than some of the last albums, subject-matter-wise. I think we’re 20 years older, and a lot of life has been lived since the last time we made a record, and it was a nice surprise to see that this is what came out of us. You know, it turns out we’re not as depressed as we used to be. Not every song is summery and happy, but … I hate to say it, but it’s fun,” he explained.
Keanu agreed, noting that the new music represents the band’s current state. “I would say it’s definitely representative of Dogstar today and not a comp with the Dogstar of the past. I think it’s developed, as Bret said, just who we are now,” he said.
