Tyler, the Creator has announced his withdrawal from the headline slots at both the Lollapalooza and Outside Lands festivals. The 33-year-old rapper was scheduled to perform at these major music events in August but has now pulled out due to unforeseen commitments.
The announcement was made on Thursday via X (formerly Twitter), where Tyler expressed his regret: “I hate saying this but I have to cancel Lollapalooza and Outside Lands. I made a commitment that I can no longer keep, and that bums me out knowing how excited folks were. That is not sexy at all.” He added, “Please please forgive me or call me names when you see me in person. Love.”
Tyler, known for his hit “Sorry Not Sorry,” previously headlined both festivals in 2021. Despite his absence, both events have swiftly found replacements for the 2024 line-ups.
Lollapalooza announced via X that Megan Thee Stallion will now headline the event. The statement read, “Hot girl summer in Chicago … Unfortunately, Tyler, the Creator will not be able to perform this year. See @theestallion headline Lolla on Thursday, August 1st!”
Similarly, Sabrina Carpenter, known for her song “Espresso,” will step in to headline at Outside Lands. The festival organisers shared the update on X: “We are excited to announce that @SabrinaAnnLynn will now headline the Lands End stage on Saturday, August 10th! Due to personal reasons, Tyler, the Creator will no longer be performing at Outside Lands.”
Fans of Tyler, the Creator will undoubtedly be disappointed by the news, but the addition of Megan Thee Stallion and Sabrina Carpenter promises to bring fresh energy to both festivals.
