K-pop girl group NewJeans has unveiled the music video for their latest Japanese single, ‘Supernatural’. The video embraces a nostalgic theme, styled like an episode of a 1990s TV series, complete with opening credits and a teaser for an upcoming episode.
In most of the choreography scenes, member Hyein, who is recovering from a foot injury, is replaced by a masked dancer. Despite this, the group’s dynamic performance remains undiminished.
The song’s lyrics express a sense of uncertainty and determination: “I don’t know what we’ve done / I don’t want to go back / I already know / Don’t know what we’ve been sold / I’ll find out / So it’s sure.” ‘Supernatural’ includes a notable sample from Pharrell Williams and Manami’s 2009 track ‘Back of My Mind’, according to Yonhap News Agency.
In a press release, NewJeans shared their excitement about the release. “We are really excited and happy to make our Japanese debut,” the group stated. “It feels like we’re opening a new chapter.”
The single also features a B-side track titled ‘Right Now’ along with instrumental versions of both songs.
