Shifty Shellshock, the charismatic frontman of the rap-rock band Crazy Town, has passed away at the age of 49.

Born Seth Binzer, the singer died at his home on Monday, June 24, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s website. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

Crazy Town shot to fame with their 2000 hit single “Butterfly,” which featured the memorable rap lyrics, “Come, my lady, come-come, my lady, you’re my butterfly, sugar baby.” The song, from their 1999 debut album “The Gift of Game,” soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and remains the band’s most successful track.

The band’s second album, “Darkhorse,” failed to replicate the success of their debut, leading to their breakup in 2003. However, they reunited in 2015 to release their third album, “The Brimstone Sluggers,” a tribute to their original name. Following the departure of co-founder Bret ‘Epic’ Mazur in 2017, Binzer rebranded the group as Crazy Town X.

Outside of his work with Crazy Town, Binzer enjoyed some solo success. He released the album “Happy Love Sick” in 2004 and collaborated with Paul Oakenfold on the 2002 hit “Starry Eyed Surprise.”

Binzer’s life was also marked by his public struggles with addiction, which he candidly shared on reality shows like “Celebrity Rehab” and its follow-up, “Sober House.”

He is survived by his three children: Halo, Gage, and Phoenix.
