Cirque du Soleil and Universal Music Group Nashville are teaming up to present Songblazers, a groundbreaking country-themed production directed by Amy Tinkham. Celebrating both legendary icons and contemporary trailblazers of country music, this dynamic theatrical spectacle marks Cirque du Soleil’s 17th visit to Charm City. Songblazers follows the journey of two main characters as they carve their own path to country stardom, promising an unforgettable experience for audiences. Currently in development, Songblazers is slated to debut in Nashville this July.
From December 20-29, 2024, Songblazers will captivate audiences at The Hippodrome Theatre at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center in Baltimore. Drawing inspiration from country music’s storied heritage, the show pays homage to past pioneers while showcasing the vibrant talents of today’s artists. Spectators can expect breathtaking acrobatics, mesmerizing aerial performances, and displays of extraordinary strength. Set to beloved country tunes, the show will highlight the unparalleled skills of Cirque du Soleil artists, celebrating the timeless essence of country music alongside its evolving spirit.
In an exciting collaboration, Cirque du Soleil has announced a partnership with Sam Williams, a contemporary country artist and grandson of Hank Williams. Williams, known for his poignant lyrics and authentic storytelling, has penned an original song titled “CARNIVAL HEART” for Songblazers. Co-written with PJ Harding and Ned Houston, the song explores themes of self-discovery, friendship, and hope with raw emotion and deep empathy.
