Country music star Darius Rucker recently shared his admiration for Taylor Swift and her ongoing Eras Tour during a candid interview with Newsweek, published on Friday, June 28. Reflecting on Swift’s journey from a teenage performer to a global sensation, Rucker, formerly of Hootie & the Blowfish, recalled witnessing Swift’s early career beginnings in 2007, describing her then as “just a baby.”
Despite her youth, Rucker, 58, recognized Swift’s potential for stardom from the outset. “It was just obvious,” he affirmed, noting her trajectory towards becoming a “superstar.”
Regarding Swift’s current Eras Tour, which commenced with a show in Dublin, Ireland, on the same day as Rucker’s interview, the “Wagon Wheel” singer commended Swift’s approach, praising her for delivering “great music and great shows” and stating, “I’m just so happy for her I can’t stand it.”
Swift’s evolution from country to pop music has been well-documented, with Rucker and other country artists expressing admiration for her ability to successfully transition genres and expand her fan base. Swift herself has acknowledged Rucker’s influence, having praised him during a concert in Columbia, S.C., in 2011 as her favorite country artist from South Carolina.
Swift’s Eras Tour, which began in March 2023 in the U.S. and is currently touring internationally, is set to return to the U.S. this fall before concluding in December.
