Up-and-coming musicians from an intensive eight-week program are set to perform at the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival (MMF), offering a series of immersive performances, operas, and live concerts.
The program provides aspiring classical performers with the opportunity to work with professional mentors and gain live performance experience. According to Michael Rossi, the festival’s founder and artistic director, the community benefits from free and affordable public concerts showcasing top talent.
This year’s festival, running from Thursday, June 27 to Sunday, July 28, features a diverse lineup including Richard Wagner’s “Die Walküre,” the “Space Symphony,” Jake Heggie’s opera “Dead Man Walking,” and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera “The Magic Flute.” The schedule also includes an Independence Day concert, chamber music, and symphony concerts. Events range from full opera productions and symphonic concerts to student and faculty recitals, chamber music, Zarzuela, musical theater concerts, and master classes.
“In just ten seasons, the festival has expanded to present over 70 public events each year,” says Rossi. This year, 200 classical musicians are participating, performing a repertoire rarely heard in South Florida.
Rossi emphasizes that MMF is dedicated to bringing classical music to Miami’s underserved neighborhoods through outreach, community partnerships, and accessible events.
