Robbie Williams has rekindled his long-standing feud with Noel Gallagher, a rivalry that dates back to 2000. The animosity between the two singers began when Noel, now 57, referred to Robbie as “that fat dancer from Take That” during the BRIT Awards.
During his recent performance at Hyde Park, Williams, 50, took a jab at Noel by bringing a cardboard cutout of him on stage. Concert-goers captured videos of Robbie patting the cardboard Noel on the head, seemingly mocking his height, before proceeding with his show. Robbie then performed Oasis’ hit song, “Don’t Look Back in Anger.”
Two years ago, Williams reflected on his contentious relationship with Oasis, accusing them of being “gigantic bullies” at the peak of their fame. “It’s part of that competitive nature of me too. And also they were gigantic bullies too, to the whole industry, everybody in it. And I didn’t like that. And a lot of that still remains inside me. They’re probably different people now but there’s a lot of me that’s like, ‘They’re f**king bullies, them. I don’t like bullies,'” he said.
Robbie’s history with the Gallagher brothers extends beyond professional rivalry. In 1998, he was engaged to All Saints singer Nicole Appleton. Their relationship ended after Nicole had an abortion, and she subsequently had a child with Liam Gallagher, now 51. Nicole and Liam married but split in 2013. Their son, Gene, is now 22.
Despite the feud, Robbie has expressed mixed feelings about Oasis. “The great thing about being a fan of Oasis is when Liam comes out with a great album, I can be a fan,” Robbie said in 2022. “The great thing about being resentful towards them, is when they don’t, I’m happy. I win on both sides. It’s so genuine.”
