Country music legend Hank Williams’ 101st birthday is approaching, and fans are gearing up for a special celebration.
The Hank Williams Museum announced on Monday that it will host a commemorative concert on September 14 at Troy University’s Davis Theater in Montgomery, beginning at 3 p.m. The event will feature the Malpass Brothers as the headlining act.
“Hank Williams left a lasting musical legacy despite his untimely death at 29,” said Hank Williams Museum Director Beth Petty. “His influence continues to resonate with each new generation. We believe it is important to celebrate and recognize the birthday of one of Alabama’s favorite sons and greatest legends. The Malpass Brothers, devoted to the traditional country music that Hank and his contemporaries played, are the perfect choice to perform in his honor.”
The Malpass Brothers, Chris and Taylor, have toured extensively with music legend Merle Haggard, who produced their debut album. They also worked closely with Don Helms, an original member of Hank Williams’ “Drifting Cowboys Band.”
A steel guitar concert featuring renowned players Jeremy Drawbaugh, Jake Penrod, and Jesse Personeni will precede the Malpass Brothers’ performance. Additionally, the Sheppard Family Band, comprised of cousins of Hank Williams’ former wife, Audrey Sheppard Williams, will also perform at the event.
Tickets for the concert are priced at $30 for general admission and $45 for reserved VIP seats, and can be purchased through the Hank Williams Museum online or in-person.
