Eminem, the iconic rapper from Detroit, has once again asserted his dominance in the rap scene with the release of his latest album, ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce),’ on Friday, July 12. This marks his 12th studio album and his first since 2020’s ‘Music to Be Murdered By.’ Loaded with 19 songs and two bonus tracks, the Grammy-winning artist emphasized the album’s conceptual nature, urging fans to experience it in the intended sequence for full coherence.
In a public announcement, Eminem explained, “The ‘death of slim shady’ is a conceptual album, therefore, if you listen to songs out of order they might not make sense. Enjoy.”
While keeping some surprises under wraps, Eminem enlisted the talents of guest artists such as Jelly Roll, J.I.D, Skylar Grey, Big Sean, BabyTron, and more. The album spans themes from poignant reflections on fatherhood to sharp critiques, including references to Diddy across multiple tracks, showcasing Eminem’s ability to switch from diabolical intensity to introspective sincerity in moments.
With his track “Houdini” debuting at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier in the year, marking his highest charting entry of the decade, Eminem’s strategic rollout for ‘The Death of Slim Shady’ continues to capture attention. His recent collaboration with Big Sean and BabyTron on “Tobey,” which entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 95, suggests a strong contender for his 11th consecutive solo album atop the Billboard 200 charts next week.
