California rapper Tan DaGod was fatally shot during the grand opening of a beauty salon, an event she had promoted extensively online beforehand.
Tan DaGod had publicized her meet-and-greet at Glamor Beauty Supply in Oakland several days prior to the tragic incident on Saturday. Videos shared on social media showed her interacting with fans inside the salon just before the shooting occurred around 5 p.m., prompting chaos among attendees who sought refuge in nearby stores, according to witnesses interviewed by KRON.
“I heard some shooting, I thought it was part of their music,” recounted a restaurant worker across the street.
Emergency services rushed Tan DaGod to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Another individual was also injured in the shooting but is expected to survive.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the perpetrator, described by a nearby restaurant worker as a male in a hooded sweatshirt, remains at large.
Following the tragic incident, a makeshift memorial quickly formed outside the salon, with mourners placing flowers along the sidewalk spelling out the rapper’s name. Distraught individuals were observed consoling each other as they processed the loss.
