Legendary musician Bruce Springsteen has achieved a significant milestone nearly five decades into his illustrious career, securing his debut on the Hot Country Songs chart and making a triumphant return to the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.
Springsteen’s breakthrough on the Hot Country Songs chart comes courtesy of his featured role on Zach Bryan’s track “Sandpaper,” included on Bryan’s latest album, The Great American Bar Scene. The album has swiftly ascended to the top of multiple Billboard charts, including Top Streaming Albums, Top Country Albums, and Top Rock & Alternative Albums, while also claiming the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200.
According to data from Luminate, “Sandpaper” garnered an impressive 7.1 million U.S. streams, received 22,000 radio airplay audience impressions, and sold 1,000 downloads during its debut week (July 5-11). This performance has propelled the track to debut at No. 26 on the Hot Country Songs chart and No. 71 on the Hot 100.
This achievement marks Springsteen’s first appearance on the Hot Country Songs chart, adding to his extensive chart history that began in 1975 with the iconic “Born to Run,” which peaked at No. 23 on the Hot 100. Springsteen’s latest entry on the Hot 100 with “Sandpaper” now stands as his 27th appearance on the chart, marking a remarkable continuation of his impact across music genres over the decades.
