Music icon Cher, aged 78, has revealed plans to publish a two-part memoir that promises an intimate exploration of her life and career.
According to HarperCollins Publishers, “Cher: The Memoir, Part One” is scheduled for release on November 19, with the second part expected in 2025. The memoir will delve into Cher’s early years, including her intricate relationship with Sonny Bono and her journey to becoming a chart-topping artist.
Described as a candid account imbued with Cher’s trademark honesty and humor, the memoir aims to uncover the singer’s true story after decades of living life on her own terms.
Late last year, Cher acknowledged delaying the memoir’s release due to discomfort in revealing certain details. “I just totally chickened out because I guess I was, I don’t know what I was, I was just totally chickening out,” she admitted on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Cher initially announced her autobiography in December 2018, originally slated for a 2020 release alongside a film biopic. However, she has also shared struggles in developing the biopic, citing challenges in encapsulating her extensive life experiences.
In a separate interview on The Graham Norton Show, Cher discussed the complexities of bringing her life to the big screen. “It is the hardest thing,” she remarked. “I have lived too long and done so much, it is very hard to cast, and we haven’t even finished the script.”
