UK songwriter Lila Tristram returns with a captivating new single, “Baby”, a track that marks a notable shift in her musical direction. Known for her atmospheric folk sound, Tristram’s latest release showcases her ability to convey raw emotion through the driving force of indie rock. The song features Heledd Owen (Prima Queen, Adwaith) on drums and Tim Gardner (RY X) on synth, and was co-produced by Gus White (Madeline Ashman, Edward Cross) and mastered by Tim Debney (Sufjan Stevens, Thom Yorke).

In a statement, Tristram shared her intention behind the track: “All my songs are so sad. I wanted to write a song which would get people dancing.” This desire to blend poignant songwriting with an uplifting indie anthem signals a fresh direction for the artist, who has traditionally been known for her bucolic folk releases.

Tristram’s forthcoming album promises to continue this new exploration of sound. After spending two years in a remote countryside studio with her band, she is set to unveil an album that marries elegiac indie-rock with her signature emotive style.

Previously, Tristram has garnered international recognition, with support from notable figures such as Stephen Street and Dan Carey, and has been praised for her debut release, Our Friends, described by Carey as “Stunning, so beautiful.” Her music has received airplay on BBC 6 Music and BBC Introducing, and her work has been featured in over 50 magazines and publications, with sync placements by Sony Music.

Influenced by artists like Big Thief, Julia Jacklin, and Bess Atwell, Lila Tristram’s debut studio album marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in her creative journey.
