Thousands of festival-goers basked in the sunshine and country music at the Sunfest Country Music Festival at Lake Cowichan, enjoying the second day of the four-day event. The festival, known for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse offerings, featured a perfect blend of the genre’s staples: songs about sunshine, beer, and good times.
Friday’s lineup included a standout performance by Grammy-winning country star Keith Urban, who captivated the audience with his chart-topping hits. Sunfest, renowned as Vancouver Island’s largest outdoor country music festival, also boasts an array of activities beyond music. Attendees had the chance to enjoy a waterslide, mechanical bull, zipline, bouncy castle, and even a tattoo parlour, underscoring the festival’s appeal to a wide range of interests.
Located on the 172-acre Laketown Ranch Music and Recreation Park, the festival site remains lively throughout the day, despite the main stage performances typically starting around 7 p.m. During the afternoon, three stages featured performances by local acts like Jamiesonrhy and Born Reckless, keeping the crowd entertained while they relaxed in their campsites.
The weekend will continue to offer a full slate of activities, including music bingo, DJ sets, and performances by U.S. headliners such as Lee Brice and Cole Swindell. Sunfest’s combination of top-tier music and diverse attractions ensures a memorable experience for all attendees.
