Sunny Sweeney Takes the Reins at SiriusXM Outlaw Afternoons

SiriusXM’s Outlaw Channel is ushering in a new era with Sunny Sweeney as its afternoon host. Sweeney, known for her dynamic presence in the country music scene, will debut her new show, “Sunny Side of Life,” on August 5, airing from 4 to 8 pm Eastern.

This transition follows a challenging period for the channel, marked by the loss of prominent figures including Mojo Nixon in February and Program Director Jeremy Tepper in June, who had been with the station for two decades. The channel has faced some listener dissatisfaction and uncertainty regarding its programming.

Sweeney, a Texas native and seasoned performer, is well-acquainted with SiriusXM. In 2022, she launched “Sunny Side Up” on the Outlaw’s sister station, Willie’s Roadhouse. Reflecting on her new role, Sweeney shared, “When an out-of-left-field opportunity presented itself at the exact right time in my life over two years ago, I took it! I got a call from an old friend, Jeremy Tepper, asking if I’d be up for hosting a radio show. I said yes before I asked if I had to relocate or even if it paid.”

In addition to her new radio role, Sweeney will continue her music career, with recent announcements of new tour dates and a deluxe edition of her 2014 album Provoked, featuring new tracks like “My Own Lane” and “My Bed” with Will Hoge.

Catch Sunny Sweeney on SiriusXM Outlaw Channel 62 starting Monday, August 5th.
