Kenny Chesney’s Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour concluded its Nashville leg at Nissan Stadium on Friday, achieving a new personal attendance record. With 57,523 fans filling the stands, floor, and sandbar, the concert surpassed his previous best at the venue by 300 attendees. Chesney’s high-energy performance was not only a testament to his dedication to live music but also a celebration of his extensive catalog that resonates with the 21st-century audience.
From the onset of his two-hour set, Chesney was drenched in sweat, energetically engaging with the crowd by tossing songs into the audience and encouraging their participation. His setlist featured a mix of timeless hits and recent favorites, including duets with Uncle Kracker, Megan Moroney, and surprise guests Old Dominion on “Save It for a Rainy Day.” Chesney also premiered “Just To Say We Did,” a new acoustic midtempo track about savoring the present moment.
Chesney, an eight-time Entertainer of the Year, emphasized the significance of performing in Nashville, a city renowned for its rich musical heritage. “Nashville’s known for the quality of its creative people,” Chesney remarked. “When you hit that stage, you’re playing for people who know what it means to pour life into songs, to play as if your life depended on it. When you’re playing for people like that, you really want to give it all away.”
The Nissan Stadium show, marking Chesney’s sixth performance at the venue and his 200th stadium show overall, drew more than a thousand additional ticket sales just before the event. The crowd’s enthusiastic response was evident as they sang along to classics like “No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems,” “Get Along,” and “Don’t Happen Twice.”
Chesney’s diverse setlist, which included emotional ballads like “There Goes My Life,” upbeat anthems like “Summertime,” and lively tracks such as “Out Last Night,” showcased his ability to connect deeply with his audience. The Los Angeles Times has dubbed him “the People’s Superstar,” and his heartfelt performance lived up to that title.
“Memories are made in moments like our show,” Chesney said. “You can’t always know what it is, just that people live their lives inside these songs—and when No Shoes Nation comes together with purpose, shows turn into their own kind of momentum. Just hearing people sing back on so many of the songs was reason to push even harder. I’m lucky I have a band up to the task.”
As the Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour nears its conclusion with three remaining weekends, including a historic three-night stand at Gillette Stadium, Chesney’s tour, presented by Blue Chair Bay® Rum, continues to celebrate new and old friendships, unforgettable memories, and songs that have defined the coming of age across the heartland this century.
