Wes Scantlin, lead singer of Puddle of Mudd, was arrested following a standoff with police in Burbank, California. According to reports, the incident began when Scantlin was pulled over for a traffic violation, during which law enforcement discovered an outstanding warrant related to a previous incident involving a weapon at an airport.
The situation escalated when Scantlin allegedly refused to exit his Hummer H2 despite repeated requests from police. The standoff led to the involvement of a crisis negotiator, but when Scantlin continued to resist, officers deployed pepper spray in an attempt to compel him to surrender.
When the pepper spray proved ineffective, SWAT members were called in. They broke a window of Scantlin’s vehicle and used non-lethal pepper balls to force him out, TMZ reports. Scantlin was subsequently taken to a hospital to have his eyes treated for the pepper spray.
Scantlin was arrested on charges related to the outstanding warrant and for resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 20.
In a previous legal issue, Scantlin was arrested in 2017 for allegedly attempting to board a flight at Los Angeles International Airport with a BB gun.
