Post Malone’s recent foray into country music has sparked a wave of backlash from fans who are urging him to return to his rap roots. The singer, known for his record-breaking collaboration with Morgan Wallen on “I Had Some Help,” is set to release his debut country album, F-1 Trillion, next Friday.
Despite his success in the country genre, including a hit single “Pour Yourself a Drink” with Blake Shelton, Malone’s announcement of another collaboration with country icon Tim McGraw has left some fans disheartened. Critics on X have expressed their frustration, with comments accusing him of overdoing his genre shift.
“It feels forced now,” one user tweeted, while another commented, “As much as I LOVE all the collabs, I’m really hoping for a Posty-only country song. And if we’re REAALLLYYY lucky, a whole album.”
Some fans are enthusiastic about the new direction, with one predicting, “Post Malone is collecting country singers like infinity stones. Blake Shelton, Morgan Wallen, and now Tim freakin’ McGraw… this album is gonna be SO GOOD.”
However, others are nostalgic for his earlier work, with posts such as, “I miss the old MALONE [crying emoji] come back” and pleas for him to “bring back trap malone” and rap.
On Tuesday, Malone announced his upcoming single with McGraw, “Wrong Ones,” set to release next week.
