Country music star Phil Vassar, renowned for his contributions since the late 1990s, has shared startling details about his recent health struggles. The 62-year-old artist revealed that he experienced two near-fatal incidents in early 2023: a heart attack followed by a stroke.
In an interview with Taste of Country, Vassar disclosed that he was technically dead for 30 minutes during these critical episodes, with no heartbeat at all. “I was dead for 30 minutes a couple of times,” Vassar said. “They had to shock me 11 times and cracked some ribs. I don’t remember any of that, but they did an incredible job bringing me back.”
Despite these harrowing experiences, Vassar is focusing on his music career. He is currently collaborating with songwriter Jeffery Steele on a new album and recently released singles “Like a Man’s Supposed to Be” and “Hillbillies in Hollywood.”
