Iam Tongi, the winner of “American Idol” Season 21 and Hawaii native, has unveiled his latest single, “Road to Hana,” through 19 Recordings. Co-written by Tongi, the track serves as a tribute to the natural beauty of his home islands. Recorded at Soultrain Sound Studios in Nashville, Tongi describes the song as a celebration of the “64.4 miles of untouched beauty” found along the Road to Hana, a renowned scenic route in Hawaii.
At 18, Tongi captured hearts globally with his poignant rendition of James Blunt’s “Monsters” during his audition, dedicated to his late father, Rodney. The audition became the most-watched in the show’s history, amassing 29 million views. Tongi, the first Pacific Islander to win the series, later achieved his first Billboard No. 1 with his debut single, “I’ll Be Seeing You,” and performed an emotional duet with Blunt of “Monsters.”
