Country music star Parker McCollum and his wife, Hallie Ray Light, have welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Major Yancey Tyler McCollum. The couple announced the arrival of their son in a Friday Instagram post, revealing that Major was born on August 8.
Parker, 32, and Hallie, 26, had previously hinted at their choice of name during an interview on the Spencer Graves Show. Parker shared that the name Major was inspired by watching highlights of former Texas Longhorns quarterback Major Applewhite. “I saw Major Applewhite and thought, ‘Major McCollum would be sick,'” he said.
The name Yancey, a family nod, was chosen by Hallie. Parker noted that it was a name she particularly liked. Interestingly, Parker’s own middle name is Yancey.
On Monday, Hallie posted a mirror selfie on Instagram Stories, cradling their newborn and expressing her joy with the caption, “mom life = best life!” The couple had announced their pregnancy in February, and the arrival of their son marks a new chapter in their lives.
