Country music artist John Rich recently engaged Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson in a probing discussion about his faith journey during an episode of Peterson’s podcast.
In the interview, Rich confronted Peterson with a past quote where Peterson expressed difficulty in fully embracing Christianity despite recognizing an objective morality aligned with Biblical values. Rich quoted Peterson:
“‘But I still don’t know what to make of it, partly because it’s too terrifying of a reality to fully believe. I don’t know what would even happen to you if you fully believed.'”
Rich expressed his reaction to Peterson’s words, focusing on the “terrified” aspect. He countered, “To me, it would be the greatest thing in the world if Jesus is who the Bible says he is. Then you should run straight to him because he controls Heaven and Hell.”
The exchange highlighted the tension between belief and fear in Peterson’s faith journey.
