Country music star Koe Wetzel has made his sixth consecutive donation to Pittsburg Independent School District (PISD), continuing his tradition of giving back to his hometown. This year, Wetzel, a 2011 graduate of the district, donated $15,000 to support various student needs.
Of the donation, $5,000 is earmarked for the district’s athletics program, while the remaining $10,000 will be allocated for essential student resources such as school supplies, snacks, clothing, and shoes.
Superintendent Terry Waldrep praised Wetzel for his ongoing connection to the district. “He still keeps up with the school and takes pride in his hometown,” Waldrep said.
Wetzel’s mother, Julie Wetzel, who is employed by the district, emphasized her son’s deep concern for his peers during his school years. “It always broke his heart to see kids without the supplies they needed,” she explained. “He doesn’t want anybody to go without or walk into school without new clothes.”
The distribution of the funds will be determined by the district based on the specific needs of each school.
“Koe has a heart of gold,” Julie Wetzel added, highlighting her son’s generous spirit.
