In a surprising turn of events, The Weeknd has revealed new tour dates for his Australian fans after initially canceling his 2023 tour plans.
The Canadian artist, known for hits like “Starboy,” had originally scheduled his After Hours Til Dawn world tour to conclude in Australia and New Zealand in November and December 2023. However, these dates were postponed and eventually canceled due to “schedule and logistical constraints.”
On Monday, The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, announced he will indeed be performing in Australia, reigniting excitement among his fans. In a statement to Billboard, he expressed his enthusiasm: “I feel a strong pull to perform in Australia before moving on to the next chapter and want to make sure you all know I hadn’t forgotten about you. When I return now, it will be the right time, and I promise it will be such a special experience. I can’t wait to see you all!”
Despite the excitement, fans have noted that the new tour dates differ significantly from the original 2023 schedule. The revised plan includes four shows: two at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on October 5 and 6, and two at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on October 22 and 23. The initial schedule had included additional performances with two nights in Brisbane, three nights in Sydney, four nights in Melbourne, and two in Auckland, New Zealand.
This upcoming tour marks The Weeknd’s first stadium performances in Australia since 2017. The After Hours Til Dawn world tour, which began in July 2022, concluded in October 2023.
