The organizers of the Reading and Leeds festival have issued an apology to Lana Del Rey after her headline performance was abruptly cut short due to a technical error.

During the Reading leg of the festival on Saturday night (August 24, 2024), Del Rey’s microphone was turned off prematurely, preventing her from concluding her set and disrupting her fireworks display. The festival organizers acknowledged the mistake in an Instagram statement: “Due to an error by the Reading production team, Lana Del Rey’s outstanding performance was cut short by five minutes. We sincerely apologize to Lana and her fans.”

Del Rey was reportedly left to watch the pyrotechnics from the stage, unable to complete her performance. This incident follows a similar situation at last year’s Glastonbury festival, where her set was also cut off after she was half an hour late to take the stage and exceeded her allotted time.

At Glastonbury, Del Rey’s microphone was unplugged before she could finish her song “White Mustang,” as the festival enforces a strict midnight curfew. The singer had explained that her lateness was due to getting her hair done, and her hairdresser even joined her on stage to assist.

Additionally, Del Rey faced a $28,000 (£22,524) fine for exceeding her time during a performance at Coachella in April.
