Brisbane-based country artist Will Day has released a poignant new single, “Home Town,” marking a departure from his usual upbeat style. Available today, August 30, this ballad delves into the emotional journey of returning to one’s hometown and missing the person who should be there with them.
“I’m known for my country rockers, so I thought it was time to revisit the ballad form,” Day said. “This song is deeply emotive and creates vivid imagery, and I’m excited for my listeners to experience it.”
The track, penned during a recent Nashville trip, features collaborations with Philadelphia’s Bill DiLuigi and acclaimed songwriter Scott Barrier. The production was handled by 2023 GCMA Producer of the Year Jared Adlam.
“‘Home Town’ was the first song we wrote during that trip. Working with Bill and Scott was a pleasure, and Jared Adlam’s production is, as always, exceptional,” Day noted.
Day’s momentum continues as he joins the lineup for the Groundwater Country Music Festival alongside country stars like Kasey Chambers and Tim Hicks. He is also a finalist in the Country category of the 2024 Unsigned Only Competition, with his previous single “Find Me A Dirt Road” potentially vying for a $20,000 USD prize.
This release coincides with his “Find Myself A Dirt Road” tour, featuring performances across the country.
