Megan Thee Stallion and BTS’s RM are teaming up for a new track, set to drop this Friday, September 6, 2024. The collaboration, titled “Neva Play,” marks a notable crossover between the American rapper and the South Korean K-pop star. Megan Thee Stallion has expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting RM’s distinctive style on this track.
On Instagram, Megan Thee Stallion shared her excitement, stating, “This is one of my favorite RM verses I’ve heard! I’ve never heard him rap in this style before.” The rapper, also 29, previously collaborated with BTS on their 2021 hit “Butter.”
Reflecting on the past collaboration, Megan mentioned in a YouTube vlog, “Whenever we do another song, I feel like we gotta do it big. We gotta do a video, and it’s gonna be happening.” RM responded by acknowledging the positive impact of Megan’s contribution to the “Butter” remix, saying, “After we listened to your rap recording, everybody was so impressed and so grateful.”
Megan Thee Stallion recalled her excitement about working with BTS, stating, “I was like, ‘I wanna do a song with BTS’, and then when it came up, I was like, ‘They know me?’ I was so happy.”
Despite her enthusiasm, Megan faced challenges with her record label over the release of “Butter.” She accused 1501 Certified Entertainment of obstructing the track’s release, leading to a legal battle in Texas. Ultimately, a judge ruled in her favor, allowing the remix to be released.
Meanwhile, RM has been making waves with his solo work. His debut solo album, “Right Place, Wrong Person,” released in May, received critical acclaim. The album topped Billboard’s US Top Rap Albums chart and secured a Top 5 position on the US Billboard 200.
