Chet Hanks, son of Hollywood legends Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, is stepping into the world of country music. While walking the red carpet at MTV’s 2024 Video Music Awards, the rapper-turned-country artist exclusively revealed to The Post that he’s working on his debut country album.
“I’m recording a country album, believe it or not,” the 34-year-old said, confidently announcing that fans should be paying attention to him during these challenging times. “I know exactly who it is,” he said when asked who people should listen to right now. “It’s me.”
Hanks also hinted at big things from the album, boldly stating, “When this s—t comes out, it’s gonna be crazy.”
Chet, who is best known for his viral “White Boy Summer” rap, recently showcased his musical versatility during a performance on MTV’s Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets in July. He performed an original song titled “Leaving Hollywood” alongside Fifth Harmony’s Ally Brooke and Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey.
Hanks also used the VMAs to voice his disappointment over the Country Music Association’s recent snub of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album. “You can never snub Beyoncé,” he said. “That’s like going against God.”
Fans are eagerly awaiting Hanks’ country debut, a bold new chapter in his eclectic career.
