Newfoundland and Labrador Mi’kmaq country artist Jason Benoit has struck a chord with his latest single, “I Wanna Hear That Song.” The track perfectly encapsulates the exhilarating anticipation of a live concert, where fans eagerly await the moment their favorite song is performed.
Benoit, who co-wrote the song with fellow musician Gerry Foote, drew inspiration from over a decade of experience in the Canadian country music scene. He observed a common desire among audiences: the craving for songs that invite sing-alongs, whether original or covers. “Everyone wants to hear a song they can sing along to,” Benoit notes. “So, while touring Ontario, we crafted this track with that universal truth in mind.”
The upbeat single, featuring a catchy rhythm and banjo play by multi-instrumentalist John Hynes—who also co-produced the track—has a radio-ready quality reminiscent of artists like Keith Urban and Tim McGraw. Benoit’s dedication to his audience shines through, as he continues to deliver music that resonates deeply with listeners.
