Indie band Bright Eyes has been forced to cancel several upcoming shows after lead singer Conor Oberst lost his voice. The band announced the news via their Instagram account, expressing deep regret over the decision.

“We’re heartbroken to announce that our upcoming record release shows have been canceled,” the statement read. “The warm-up shows we performed earlier this week resulted in Conor losing his voice, and on the advice of doctors, we’ve made the difficult but sensible decision to prioritize rest and recuperation for the remainder of the month.”

The band recently held a special show at the Beachland Ballroom on September 15 under the name Ojos Brillantes, which translates to Bright Eyes in Spanish, to preview their soon-to-be-released album.

The canceled performances include Brooklyn Steel on September 19, Riot Fest in Chicago on September 21, and Steelhouse Omaha on September 22.

“We’re working hard to reschedule these dates and will keep you updated as soon as we have more information. In the meantime, refunds will be available at the point of purchase,” the band added.
