The latest issue of Metal Hammer marks the 25th anniversary of Slipknot’s iconic self-titled debut album, featuring exclusive insights from band founder and percussionist Clown, along with guitarist Jim Root.

In a revealing interview, Clown discusses the profound impact the album had on both the band and the broader metal scene. He shares that he is actively overseeing a forthcoming reissue of the classic album, which promises to delight devoted fans.

“I’m fully involved with putting together a reissue package because I’m the band caretaker,” Clown stated. “I’ve preserved all the DAT tapes from our early shows, along with videotapes from studio sessions at SR Audio and Indigo Ranch, and various test mixes that were never released but are remarkable.”

Clown believes that while these recordings might not have been appreciated 25 years ago, they hold a new significance today. “Now that the golden egg has been laid, you’re not going to listen to another mix and think, ‘This is better.’ Instead, you’ll say, ‘Wow, this is Slipknot from 25 years ago.’”

Although a release date has yet to be announced, Clown is enthusiastic about the project. “There’s new artwork, photos from that era, and so much raw music from board tapes. We have video documents as well—audio and visuals. It’s the best of all things Slipknot,” he expressed.

Fans can look forward to a comprehensive reissue that celebrates the legacy of one of metal’s defining albums.
