Fontaines DC have announced the cancellation of two additional shows due to lead singer Grian Chatten’s ongoing vocal problems. The Irish post-punk band was scheduled to begin their North American tour on September 20 in Seattle but had to forgo the opening performance after Chatten revealed he was suffering from a flu that affected his voice.

The Dublin-based group confirmed that upcoming performances in Portland and Vancouver have also been called off. In a message shared on X, Chatten expressed his frustration, stating, “Despite rest and medication, I can now not even speak without pain. It breaks my heart to have to cancel the show tonight in Portland and tomorrow in Vancouver, two shows I was really looking forward to.”

He continued, “But there is just no way of making them work. Please know that I am very grateful to those who bought tickets and very sorry that I can’t play for you.”

The US Romance tour is set to continue until October 20 in Philadelphia. Following this, the band will kick off their 2024 headline tour across the UK and Ireland in November.

Fontaines DC recently released their fourth album, Romance, which has garnered critical acclaim. Elton John has praised the band, calling them “the best band out there at the moment,” while the group has expressed indifference toward a potential Oasis reunion.
