Morgan Wallen celebrated a triumphant homecoming at Knoxville’s Neyland Stadium over the weekend, drawing an impressive crowd of 156,161 fans for two shows on September 20 and 22. The East Tennessee native, a seven-time CMA Awards nominee, welcomed a lineup of surprise guests, including Eric Church, Miranda Lambert, and Darius Rucker.
On Friday, Church joined Wallen for a rendition of “Quittin’ Time,” while Hardy and Ernest took the stage for “Up Down” and a mashup of “Flower Shops” and “Cowgirls.” Wallen expressed his admiration for Church, sharing that attending one of his shows inspired him to pursue country music.
Sunday’s performance featured Lambert, who recently released her album Postcards From Texas. The two artists sang “Thought You Should Know,” a song they co-wrote alongside Nicolle Galyon. Wallen humorously recounted how their songwriting session involved plenty of vodka and was initially aimed at crafting a song for his mother.
Wallen’s weekend festivities also included special appearances by sports figures. Peyton Manning, a two-time Super Bowl champion and former quarterback for the University of Tennessee, participated in the second show alongside current UTK football coach Josh Heupel and players Nico Iamaleava and Bru McCoy. The first show featured the 2024 National Champion Tennessee Volunteers baseball team and coach Tony Vitello.
The weekend concluded with Rucker joining Wallen for a performance of his RIAA Diamond-certified hit “Wagon Wheel,” capping off an unforgettable series of concerts.
