The West Valley Country Music Association (WVCMA) has officially kicked off its 6th Annual Songwriting Contest, aimed at promoting talent across all levels of songwriting. Entrants under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign on their behalf.

Songwriters can submit up to three original songs, retaining all rights to their work. The entry deadline is Tuesday, October 1. Interested participants can request entry forms from Lu Anne Camp via email at [email protected] or by texting 623-556-6071.

All submissions will be evaluated by a qualified listening committee, with the top 15 songwriters invited to showcase their work at the WVCMA Songwriter’s Contest Showcase at the Glendale Main Library Auditorium on Sunday, November 3. A panel of music industry professionals will judge the performances based on originality, lyric content, musical composition, and marketability.

The top three winners will receive cash prizes, award plaques, and a one-year membership to the Arizona Songwriters Association, while the remaining finalists will earn certificates of honorable mention. Arizona singer-songwriter Dan McCorrison will perform a special set during the event as judges tally their scores. Admission is free and open to the public.
