Miranda Lambert received the prestigious Country Icon Award at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards, held at the Grand Ole Opry.
During her acceptance speech, the 40-year-old singer expressed gratitude to her fans and reflected on her extensive music career. Fellow country artist Parker McCollum, who collaborated with Lambert on the track “Santa Fe” from her latest album, Postcards From Texas, presented the award.
“It’s so weird for me to stand up here and hold an icon award. I mean, to me, an icon is who I grew up listening to,” Lambert remarked. She reminisced about her musical influences, citing legends like Jerry Jeff Walker, Merle Haggard, Guy Clark, and John Prine as her true icons. “The fact that I get this award tonight is just blowing my mind,” she added.
The three-time Grammy Award winner humorously concluded, “It’s a lot of years, tears, beers, and Tito’s,” acknowledging the journey that has brought her to this moment.
