Detroit-based photographer Jake Mulka reflects on his passion for capturing country music’s vibrant moments, a journey that began when he was just 7 years old. Initially drawn to photography as a hobby, Mulka’s artistic vision was shaped by his father’s musical background, despite his own lack of musical talent. “I wanted to understand music, to photograph it and express myself in that way,” he explains.

However, it’s the festival’s enchanting atmosphere that truly inspires him. “There’s a unique warmth and a certain romance to the way the light falls at golden hour,” he notes, describing how the dust kicks up to create stunning silhouettes of festival-goers dancing to country music.
