A sold-out audience enjoyed an evening of Irish and country music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, all in support of the Rosemere Cancer Foundation. The “Back in Time” music show, held at St Mary’s Club in Chorley, has consistently filled the venue each spring and autumn for nearly two decades.
Headlining the event was popular vocalist Sean Leonard, who was joined by Longton teacher Lindsay Marie Ashcroft, who showcased her signature Patsy Cline set. Both artists generously donated their performance fees to enhance the £1,200 raised through ticket sales and a raffle. The total amount was presented to Sue Swire, the fundraising manager for Rosemere Cancer Foundation, by concert organizer Denis Ashcroft, a retired postmaster from Chorley.
Denis has a personal connection to the cause, having lost his mother to cancer when he was just 11 years old. He has dedicated much of his adult life to fundraising for various cancer charities. Over the past 19 years of organizing the “Back in Time” concerts, Denis has raised over £20,000 specifically for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
Swire expressed gratitude for Denis’s support, stating, “We are extremely grateful to Denis for coming into Rosemere Cancer Centre to present us with his autumn concert donation. It is support we never take for granted. Both Sean and Lindsay have a huge following because they are just great at what they do. Their audience loves them and always looks forward to their next show. Denis, Sean, and Lindsay have a winning formula.”
Tickets for the next “Back in Time” concert featuring Sean and Lindsay on Friday, March 28, 2025, are already on sale at the club.
