Zach Bryan will not compete for any awards at the 2025 Grammy Awards after deciding against submitting his music for consideration, according to Variety. The country artist reportedly withheld his work because he feels uncomfortable with the competitive nature of awards shows. Voting for the 2025 Grammy Awards opened on October 4.
By boycotting the Grammys, Bryan joins a growing list of prominent artists who have opted out of the nominations process in recent years. Notably, Drake snubbed the Recording Academy in 2021 and 2022 but returned last year to submit Her Loss for Best Rap Album, which ultimately lost to Killer Mike. The Weeknd has maintained his boycott since the snubbing of After Hours and “Blinding Lights” from the 2021 nominations. Other artists, including Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Frank Ocean, and Silk Sonic, have also chosen not to submit their work for Grammy consideration.
Bryan had several commercially successful projects eligible for submission in 2025. His September 2023 EP, Boys of Faith, which includes collaborations with Bon Iver and Noah Kahan, spent 17 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, peaking at No. 8. Additionally, the music video for the EP’s lead single, “Nine Ball,” features actor Matthew McConaughey. Bryan’s latest album, The Great American Bar Scene, released in July, peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, while its hit single “Pink Skies” reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
