Country singer ERNEST, best known for his hit “Cowgirls,” has a unique routine that keeps him grounded before every show on his Legalize Country Music Roadshow tour. Despite performing night after night, the 32-year-old artist, born Ernest Keith Smith, knows how to keep stage fright at bay with a series of tried-and-true pre-show rituals.

In an exclusive interview, ERNEST shared how he prepares for his performances. “I start with a cold shower to wake up,” he explained. “I usually take a nap, then a cold shower, drink a pre-workout, and I’m ready to go.”

He also enjoys tuning into country music—often Keith Whitley radio—while he relaxes in his green room, which he fills with a few essentials. “I love a good earthy candle and some Sun Chips,” he revealed. “We also have plenty of drinks for the band, and I always keep a fresh toothbrush and deodorant on hand.”

Before stepping on stage, ERNEST takes a moment to get into the right mindset, drawing inspiration from a ritual inspired by Willie Nelson. As a prolific songwriter with hits penned for artists like Post Malone, Morgan Wallen, Kane Brown, and Sam Hunt, he knows the value of mental preparation. However, he joked that one time, his routine backfired: “It worked against me once when I hung out with Wiz Khalifa,” he quipped.

With these personal rituals, ERNEST keeps his cool and brings his best to the stage night after night, making sure his performances are memorable for his fans.
