Toronto indie rock band HotKid has released their latest EP, Downtown, which dropped on October 4, 2024, via Fortune Stellar Records. The four-track EP includes both full-band and acoustic versions of the title song “Downtown,” along with two additional tracks, “Naked” and “All Time,” showcasing the band’s dynamic sound and versatility.
The full-band tracks were recorded live at Calgary’s renowned Studio Bell, part of the National Music Centre, where they utilized the legendary Trident console. Known for its role in classic records by icons like David Bowie, Elton John, Queen, Rush, and Metallica, the Trident console provided a vintage touch to HotKid’s modern sound.
The recording session, engineered by Eric Cinnamon, captured the raw energy and authenticity of the band’s performance in the historic studio environment. With a stunning new music video accompanying the release, Downtown delivers a fresh chapter for HotKid, blending indie rock flair with rich, guitar-driven melodies.
