Carly Pearce has dropped a dramatic new music video for her single “Truck on Fire,” which sees her setting an ex’s truck ablaze. Released on Monday, the video is a powerful visual companion to the song, which Pearce describes as an empowering anthem for women overcoming heartbreak.
Pearce co-wrote the song with Charles Kelley of Lady A. “We wanted to create a song that felt like an anthem for women, a way for them to feel empowered after heartbreak,” she shared. “It was an easy song to write, and I love the play on words.”
Directed by Alexa Campbell, the video opens with police arriving at a gas station where Pearce, the wanted arsonist, has purchased supplies for her fiery plan. Flashbacks show her cruising down a dusty road in a red convertible Mustang, stopping to fill a red gas can and buy matches before unleashing flames on her ex’s truck.
In the song, Pearce sings, “Liar, liar, truck on fire/Flames rolling off of your Goodyear tires,” capturing the emotional intensity of betrayal. Pearce says she enjoyed tapping into her playful side for the video. “It was almost 100 degrees outside, and I had to take five showers during filming,” she joked.
The video marks another collaboration with Campbell, who directed Pearce’s CMT Award-winning video “We Don’t Fight Anymore.” Currently, Pearce is on her Hummingbird World Tour, with upcoming dates across the U.S. and Canada through November. She will return stateside in March, promising fans a deeply personal experience. “This is the most ‘me’ tour I’ve ever done, from the set design to the setlist,” she said proudly.
