Country music star Darius Rucker experienced a mishap on stage while performing with Hootie & the Blowfish at the Riverfront Revival festival in Charleston, South Carolina, on Saturday. The 58-year-old singer took an unexpected fall during the concert, which marked the final stop of the band’s 43-city tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their iconic album Cracked Rear View.
In a fan-recorded video, Rucker is seen starting the first verse of his 2009 solo hit “Alright” before tripping over an onstage monitor and falling face-first. Quickly recovering, Rucker laughed off the incident, joking to the crowd, “I’m old as f—.”
Touring keyboard player Lee Turner later pointed out the spot where Rucker had stumbled, and the two shared a lighthearted moment before continuing the show. After finishing the song, Rucker addressed the audience, saying, “We’ve been doing this all summer. I hadn’t fallen once. But I busted my a– in my hometown.”
Despite the fall, the concert proceeded smoothly, closing out a successful tour for Hootie & the Blowfish in Rucker’s hometown of Charleston.
