The Dave Matthews Band celebrated their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Saturday night at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, delivering an electrifying performance as the final inductees of the evening. The band kicked off their set with “Ants Marching,” followed by a quick rendition of their iconic hit “Crash Into Me.” They continued with “So Much To Say” and “Too Much,” showcasing their most beloved tracks.
After their induction speech, the band returned to the stage for a lively cover of Talking Heads’ “Burning Down the House,” opting for this classic in place of the traditional all-star ensemble finale. Earlier in the evening, Matthews had also paid tribute to the late Jimmy Buffett, performing his song “A Pirate Looks at Forty.” This tribute was part of a collaborative effort that included performances by James Taylor, Kenny Chesney, and Mac McAnally, who covered Buffett’s “Come Monday.”
Introduced by actress Julia Roberts, the band’s induction marks their second nomination after first appearing on the ballot in 2020. This ceremony recognized other legendary artists as well, including Mary J. Blige, Ozzy Osbourne, A Tribe Called Quest, Kool & the Gang, Peter Frampton, Cher, and Foreigner. The night highlighted the band’s significant contributions to the music industry, solidifying their place in rock history.
