Keith Richards made a surprise appearance at the Country Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Nashville, captivating the audience with an unexpected performance.
Richards joined an impressive lineup that included Elvis Costello, Post Malone, bluegrass pioneer Del McCoury, Americana artist Lucinda Williams, Vince Gill, and Emmylou Harris at the annual Medallion Ceremony. The event also featured performances by Eric Church, Blake Shelton, and Brad Paisley in tribute to the 2024 inductees: the innovative guitarist James Burton, Florida’s John Anderson, and the late singer-songwriter Toby Keith, who passed away in February.
Richards’s appearance was kept under wraps until Kyle Young, CEO of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, announced him to the stage. The rock legend joined Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, and Rolling Stones drummer Steve Jordan to perform “I Can’t Dance,” a song by Tom T. Hall that was recorded by Gram Parsons in 1973.
As he took the stage, Richards acknowledged Burton, who was seated in the front row, saying, “We made it, James.”
