Country music star Riley Green has unveiled his third studio album, Don’t Mind If I Do. Green shared insights into the musical influences that shaped his passion for music, highlighting the impact of country legend Merle Haggard.
“One of the first songs I ever heard that really resonated with me was ‘Sing Me Back Home’ by Merle Haggard,” Green recalled. “It tells the story of a man in prison longing for one last song. The emotions it evoked took me to a place I had never experienced before.”
Green also credited his family for his diverse musical tastes. “My dad loved The Band, and they’re still one of my favorites. I grew up listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Marshall Tucker Band. My granddaddy, Bufford, was a huge influence, introducing me to artists like Roy Acuff, Merle Haggard, and George Jones,” he noted.
Don’t Mind If I Do has been well-received by critics and features 18 tracks, including collaborations with Luke Bryan on “Reel Problems” and Ella Langley on the title track.
“It feels fitting that this album is out on my birthday,” Green said. “This project truly reflects who I am, where I come from, and what I’ve learned along the way. I learned to play guitar to my granddaddy’s favorite country songs, and this album is a throwback to the era when I first became a fan.”
