Randy Travis made a surprise appearance at the Concert for Carolina on Saturday night, October 26, captivating a packed audience at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The star-studded benefit concert aimed to raise funds for hurricane relief efforts following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene.
At 65 years old, Travis, a native of Marshville, North Carolina, took the stage alongside his wife, Mary. She expressed heartfelt sentiments about returning home, stating, “(home is) the feeling you get… and it’s so good to be back in North Carolina.” Mary also urged attendees to “spend a little time saying a prayer” for those affected by the hurricane.
The concert was spearheaded by North Carolina-born country stars Luke Combs and Eric Church, who quickly organized the event after learning of the destruction in their home state. They headlined a lineup that included James Taylor, Billy Strings, Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban, Bailey Zimmerman, The Avett Brothers, Scotty McCreery, Chase Rice, and Parmalee. Additionally, actress Nicole Kidman made a surprise appearance to celebrate her husband’s birthday.
The event drew over 83,000 attendees and successfully raised more than $24 million for hurricane relief. Hosted by Caleb Pressley and Marty Smith, the concert was also live-streamed on Veeps and iHeartRadio.
