Jelly Roll is set to be honored at Variety’s annual Hitmakers celebration, recognizing not only his musical achievements but also his significant philanthropic efforts.
The artist, who has openly discussed his past experiences with incarceration, will receive the Changemaker of the Year Award for his dedicated work with prisoners and individuals in recovery. Variety’s music editor, Jem Aswad, remarked that Jelly Roll often shares his struggles from his youth and has leveraged those experiences to support various initiatives, including efforts for incarcerated youth and addiction recovery. He even addressed Congress earlier this year on these important issues.
Jelly Roll will be recognized alongside other artists at a ceremony on December 7 in Los Angeles. His latest single, “I Am Not Okay,” is currently climbing the country charts, holding the #2 position, and serves as the lead track from his recent album, Beautifully Broken, which debuted at #1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.
