The Devil Makes Three is back with their highly anticipated new album, Spirits, marking their first full-length release in six years since Chains Are Broken. The band unveiled the title track and lead single from the album.
Having debuted in 2002 with their self-titled album, The Devil Makes Three quickly garnered a loyal following among fans of Americana, country music, and folk music. Over the years, their sound has evolved while remaining rooted in folk traditions. The 2018 album Chains Are Broken introduced significant changes, notably the addition of drummer Stefan Amidon. With Spirits, the band continues to explore their musical evolution, combining elements from Chains Are Broken with their stripped-down acoustic roots.
The upcoming 13-track album delves into personal themes, including grief, mortality, and introspection. “There’s a theme of ghosts and death running through this album,” said frontman and principal songwriter Pete Bernhard, hinting at the haunting essence of their latest work.
