The Uptown Music Collective is set to kick off its 2024-2025 season with an exciting tribute to modern country music next weekend. On November 8 and 9, the collective will take the stage at the Community Arts Center, located at 220 W. Fourth St. in Williamsport, with performances starting at 7:30 p.m.
In collaboration with UPMC North Central PA and UPMC Health Plan, the concert will celebrate the music of contemporary country music stars including Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, Tyler Childers, and Taylor Swift.
As a nonprofit music school, the collective features a student performance group (SPG1) comprised of talented musicians aged 13 to 18. This diverse ensemble has become a beloved fixture in the local community, known for delivering high-quality performances.
The event is made possible through sponsorships from Hudock Capital Group and Geisinger’s Janet Weis Children’s Hospital. The program will include popular songs like “Tennessee Whiskey,” “Heart Like A Truck,” “Beautiful Crazy,” “Before He Cheats,” and “Girl Crush.” These tracks intertwine elements of rock, pop, folk, and blues with the rich tradition of country storytelling, touching on themes of heartache, love, small-town values, and the comforts of trucks and dogs.
